White Lily (No.1) Watercolour Flower Painting
Watercolour on Paper 2004 18 x 10 ins private collection
A Classical Style Flower Painting of a white Lily.
Flower Watercolour Painting Technique: First the Lily Flower was drawn in detail onto a good quality heavy Watercolour Paper. Then rubber-solution Masking Fluid was applied carefully over the flower (using an old paint brush) to protect it.
The background was painted with three or so layers of Watercolour Washes using a medium size Paint Brush.
When the background had dried, the Masking Fluid was peeled off in one piece and a fine sable brush was used to fill in the Lily Flower details.
No white paint was used in this Painting. The lighter areas are light reflected from the Watercolour Paper.
