--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bodhisattva In the Hinayana (Small Vehicle) tradition, one who in successive lifetimes strives to become a Buddha. In the Mahayana (Great Vehicle) tradition, one who, relinquishing care for his own enlightenment labours for the liberation of all sentient beings. Many followers of the Mahayana tradition take Bodhisattva vows.

At some stage in the Bodhisattva's Way he or she will realise that the activity of conditioned Karma has given way to, and been replaced by Dharma or Truth in Action.
"When Enlightenment is Perfected a Bodhisattva is free from the bondage of things but does not seek to be delivered from things. Samsara is not hated by him, nor is Nirvana loved. When Perfect Enlightenment shines it is neither bondage nor deliverence". Prunabuddha Sutra
