Fence Post with Barbed Wire An Early Gouache Painting Gouache on Paper 1980 16 x 12 ins whereabouts unknown
A Painting of a Fence Post with Barbed Wire in Gouache Paint used as a preparatory study for my A-Level art exam at Barnsley School of Art.
I think the theme was something like Weathering and Decay. The Barbed Wire Fence Post was at the edge of a field I used to walk by when delivering daily newspapers.
I remember being quite pleased with the realistic water droplets on the Fence Post - you can just about see them in the close-up image. The spiders' webs however look a little crude.
The background is painted with diluted paint in a Watercolour Technique whilst the Fencepost and Barbed Wire are painted in a more opaque way.
