Darfield Church, an ink and Watercolour Landscape Painting of an autumnal South Yorkshire village scene near Barnsley.
Watercolour & Ink Drawing & Painting Technique: The Drawing of All Saints Church Darfield Church and the road was done quite sketchily using a fine black pigment ink pen. Loose Watercolour Washes were applied over the Ink Drawing.
The sky is painted in broad Watercolor Washes of Ultramarine Blue with a hint of Alizarin Crimson and the green colour of the foliage and the stone Church is Olive Green straight from the tube.
Darfield Church is an Anglican Parish Church and parts of the building date back to Saxon times. The tower is 100 feet high.
Behind the viewer is the Maurice Dobson Museum and Heritage Centre which houses information and objects relating to the History of Darfield.
